well for a while now i've been seeing zoo tycoon 1 for ninteno DS, but at Zoo tycoon NL they have a picture of the boxart for Zoo tycoon 2 DS =D i wonder how its gunna be!

Was never a huge fan of the DS Zoo Tycoon, but this is good news anyway. I'll stick to my computer to play Zoo Tycoon 2 however.

Zoo Tycoon DS was a disaster... getting a 2 out of 5 from the criticits and I personally thought that they could have done a MUCH better job with the gameplay and visiuals.

Good thing I still got my DS! lolz

I got this game.


I'll post a review of it once I've played through the campaigns and stuff.

First impressions, though:

1. It's got most of the same features as ZT2, but, obviously, not all of the freedom.
2. Graphics-wise (this IS the DS we're talking about) it's like a bridge between ZT1 and ZT2... in zoo building mode everything is pixels, but when you go to zookeeper mode you get to interact with a 3D animal.
3. The zookeeper mode doesn't let you walk around like the PC version, but instead you get to do several "mini-games" involving feeding, cleaning, and otherwise caring for the animal.
4. The zookeepers are automatically locked in the enclosures, which means no running around trying to clean poo they can't reach! *lol* They do their jobs admirably!
5. "freeform mode" appears to be almost a hybrid of freeform and challenge from the PC game. You can choose your starting money, fame, and whether or not all research has been completed. It also has a button to randomize these stats for a freeform game.
6. Changing the biome of an exhibit costs money. That's rather annoying.

Okay, that's all I've got for now, I just got the game last night and spent a couple hours playing it, but I haven't unlocked very many things yet. Hehe!

No, it doesn't really. The "zookeeper mode" is just a set of "mini-games" which has a 3D animal model you can interact with. I wouldn't say that the graphics for that are better than the PC game, though.
