Title: Creation Colosseum Animal Tournament!
catc - December 3, 2007 03:53 AM (GMT)

As if the ZM Renewal wasn't enough heat already! We got another event, and this one is the Creation Colosseum Animal Tournament!! Four participants, two rounds, one winner...who will it be?
A lot of you aren't familiar with the Creation Colosseum. For more info., check out this topic located right
here! For more info. on this specific tournament, check
here! Now, as you can see from the banner, we have the following members participating:
Steenbok
Zooasaurus
Badisbadis
Panda King
The way this will work is by grouping two of them together so they can do a challenge with each other, just as normal. Once a winner is announced, he will move up to the next round with the other winner. The way we chose who will be grouped with who was by choosing any number between 1 and 4, (animalover was the one asking me what numbers) and here is what we came up with:
Steenbok vs. Zooasaurus and Badisbadis vs. Panda KingHere are some important side notes:
-Only 2 weeks per round, if by that time a complete animal isn't done, there will be an automatic disqualification and if the other participant has
his animal done, will move on without further notice.
-We decided to allow meshing in this tournament, reason being, some of you need meshing as your, and I quote "Wow factor". We think that is enough reason to allow this.
-With meshing you might think this will be unfair right? Well, you will be judged by creativity, surprise us. If you make an amazing skin with amazing texture, etc., that can make you win. If you mesh the model extremely well, that can make you win. Even your coding can add to the points. If you can't mesh, don't be discouraged, as said above, we are judging on your creativity, not what you can't do. Everything will be judged by our staff.
-Try to keep consistent with updating your topic under
Animal Challenge.
-The theme for the first round will be safari (take the Zoomania theme as an example to what I mean to what kind of safari =D), so make sure your animal has
some relation to animals that you will most likely find in a safari!!
All in all, we wish you four a fun time with this, and we hope Zoomania will enjoy reading your updates!
Nocturnal Dragon - December 3, 2007 03:57 AM (GMT)

We'll be sure to let you know when we organized one. :D
badisbadis101 - December 4, 2007 02:08 AM (GMT)
okay - can i post questions here?
if so:
Can we make objects to complement our animals(statue or sumthing) or enrichment/food items?
catc - December 4, 2007 03:13 AM (GMT)
You can, but just know that they will not help out, no extra points or anything, only your animal will be taken for judging. :D
Panda King - December 4, 2007 04:31 AM (GMT)
Aww, crud, meshing is allowed.
Sadly, I can't skin very vell to make up for my inability to mesh.
zooasaurus - December 4, 2007 04:41 AM (GMT)
But there is also the possiblity of coding extra features and stuff :aww:

What we want is that you guys surprise us, no matter what your skill is, you're not getting judged on what you can't do as I said in my announcement. If you can only do well in coding, do as Zooasaurus recommended, coding can also give you a winning chance!

If any of you four are still confused on what I refer to when I mean it's safari-themed, well, let me remind you that our banner sort of exemplifies a "safari in motion" I guess. If you can tell, we practically used animals that you would find in Africa in the banner, so therefore, when we mean safari, I suppose you can say we mean African-ish. The precise definition of it is "An overland expedition, especially one for hunting or exploring in eastern Africa." As defined by thefreedictionary.com and similarly defined by other sources such as Merriam-Webster. So what would you find in a safari? African animals  Good luck!

Okay, another question:
PK is using IcyTree's ambient into animal fish as a base for his animal. He has his permission, i assume, but will that count towards his score? I am just wondering because he did not actually figure out the coding himself, he based it on someone else's
catc - December 29, 2007 12:21 AM (GMT)
Alright!! Sorry to the participants for the long wait, we were waiting for a few more judges, and due to the holiday break I hadn't gotten the chance to announce. Well, the results are in!! They were both some excellent animals and we would like to congratulate both Zooasaurus and Steenbok for creating two amazing animals, though unfortunately, we can only have one winner between the two =(. Most of the judges gave some critique regarding on what could have been better or could be improved, if you two would like, I can send these critiques over through pm as a summary. (Also, since Panda King gave up on his animal, BadisBadis automatically wins his round, so congrats to him and thanks PK for participating)
The way we voted was of course by creativity as we promised, and we deducted some points due to bugs we would find. They were each given an overall score from 1-10 from each judge, along with the said critique. After the amount of time given was up, we averaged the scores together to get the final results.
As an added note, all staff was allowed to judge, and although Steenbok is part of our staff, he wasn't given the ability to view our hidden forum we set up for just this =).
And now, for the results...
Zooasaurus won with an average score of 7.7/10
Against Steenbok with an average score of 7/10
As you can see, it was a very close result, and we congratulate Zooasaurus for moving on to the next round! Thanks A LOT Steenbok for participating, your animal was extremely fascinating!
Alright, for the next round, the new theme will be more specific. The animal MUST be an Asian feline, must be a present, not- extinct animal. Now, we want to be a little fair with the deadline, we will give you, Badisbadis and Zooasaurus, up until Jan. 16th. If you guys have any problem at all with the deadline, please let me know through pm or by replying here.
Steenbok28 - December 29, 2007 12:27 AM (GMT)
Haha! Well done Zooasaurus! My porcupine would have won, I tells ya! Really!
Thanks for putting on a great contest Catc! I WILL win the scenery one!
Mwahahahah...
Animalover44 - December 29, 2007 12:48 AM (GMT)
Congratulations to our two winners of Round 1! :D
badisbadis101 - December 29, 2007 01:18 AM (GMT)
thanks! And an asian feline? Great! :D
Koala Komander - December 29, 2007 01:27 AM (GMT)
congrats to both of you for making such a great round! it was really close when judging!
grats zooasuarus for winning this round
zooasaurus - December 29, 2007 03:48 AM (GMT)
I actually won! Woo! And I already know what I'm gonna make!
Steenbok28 - January 9, 2008 07:54 AM (GMT)
Good luck to both of you!
I placed a pangolin in a zoo today, and I realized just how unfinished it was! :ohnoes: I knew I'd rushed it, but oh my... lol
Anyways, can't wait to see the next 2 entries!
badisbadis101 - January 13, 2008 05:35 PM (GMT)
catc, can round 2 be extended til next sunday? I have been really busy in real life, but a week will be enough time for me to finish it. Thanks :D
catc - January 13, 2008 08:35 PM (GMT)
Yeah, sure, I forgot to mention a lot of us have finals this whole week. Deadline extended until Jan. 20th.
ShenTirag - January 29, 2008 05:16 PM (GMT)
So has a winner been decided yet? When can we play with these lovely creations? :D And will they be hosted here? :)
badisbadis101 - January 29, 2008 09:21 PM (GMT)
i would like to fix a problem with my serval before it is released, but the cheetah is fine.
BTW, the serval problem is that it only uses one skin, as in no dirty skins, variants, or anything - just the main skin that i linked the model to, but i will ask for help with that if it is okay
badisbadis101 - February 5, 2008 10:52 PM (GMT)
Has this been judged yet? I am curious as to the results :S
Steenbok28 - February 5, 2008 11:04 PM (GMT)
The judging is still going on, not all of us have had time, unfortunately. I'm we'll be done soon!
badisbadis101 - February 5, 2008 11:24 PM (GMT)
okay - thanks for the quick reply :D
